TMA denied share of octroi tax

LARKANA, Sept 5: At least 850 employees of the taluka municipal administration have not been paid their salary as the Larkana taluka council has not received its octroi tax share.

Taluka Nazim Nazeer Ahmad Shaikh told this correspondent that the local treasury office had not released the amount on the pretext of a letter from the DCO.

The Nazim said he was told to submit bills for payment which was impossible as the taluka administration always utilized the octroi share for salaries.

He said the EDO (finance) had no knowledge of any letter from the DCO, asking the treasury office to seize the amount.

He said indolence on the part of the local treasury office was creating restlessness among the TMA employees as they had not been paid for a month.

NO-TRUST MOTION PASSED: A no-confidence motion against the Naib Nazim of union council-7 of (city), Mohammed Muneer Sargani was passed here on Wednesday by the majority of the UC members. Nazim Safdar Mithani presided over the UC session.

Seven votes were polled against the motion while nine members supported the move.

Mr Sargani claimed nine members voted for him while seven voted against him. He said he would move a court against the result.

HOUSEWIFE KILLED: A woman, Zahida, wife of Momin Channo, was killed in Hatri Ghulam Shah village near Dokri on Tuesday night.

Mohammed Bachal, the brother of the woman, had lodged an FIR against six unknown assailants.
