FAISALABAD: The Gulberg police claimed to have killed an alleged robber in an encounter late on Wednesday night.

Acting on a tip-off that four motorcyclists had looted the house of Usman in Rehmanpura, police cordoned off Rehmanpura, ABC Cinema and Unasi Roads. Seeing police near ABC Chowk, the alleged robbers fled towards Ilyas Park and opened fire on police which was returned. Consequently, one of the robbers sustained injuries who died while being shifted to a hospital. However, his three accomplices managed to escape.

Sources said the deceased, identified as Naveed of Mansoorabad, was involved in several cases of robbery.
