JHANG: Majlis Wahdatul Muslimeen Punjab General Secretary Allama Abdul Khaliq Asadi has demanded foolproof security arrangements during Muharram and said that holding majalis and religious progarmmes inside houses are legal and constitutional right of the people.

Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, he said police could not interfere in this regard.

He said: “We have constitutional right to express our religious feelings and nobody will be allowed to time our programmes and change routes of processions.”

Asadi said Maulana Fazlur Rehman during his visit to India had asked the Muslims to replace cow sacrifice with other animals for the sake of religious sentiments of Hindus but in Pakistan he totally changed his point of view.

“The Shia community is totally peaceful and loyal to the country but it can’t be intimidated. It has the capacity to teach a lesson to terrorists who always want to disturb peace of the country,” he said.
