Bono has glaucoma

Published October 26, 2014

Do you know why the legendary Bono (lead vocalist of U2, for the teenaged uninitiated) wears sunglasses even after dusk?

Some two decades back, when he was in his early 30s, he was diagnosed with glaucoma. Doctors advised him to wear sunglasses so that he wouldn’t be bothered by rings around lights (a condition caused because of glaucoma).

The rock star recently revealed this on the Graham Norton Show when the host teased him that he wore his trademark blue shades as a fashion statement. Bono, at one point, lamented that no one knows how the disease has messed with his life.

And you think rock stars have it easy!
