15 dead as van plunges into ravine

TIMERGARA, Sept 4: Fifteen persons, including three women, were killed and 10 others were injured after a passenger van fell into a ravine near Sandal area of Wari town in the Upper Dir district on Thursday morning.

The van (DR-2584) was on its way to Sandal from Nehag Dara at the time of the occurrence of the accident.

The condition of some of the injured, shifted to a hospital in Wari town by people from a nearby village, is stated to be critical.

The people killed in the accident were identified as Khaista, son of Habib Khan,; Shah Namroz, son of Pervez, Behramand, son of Mehtab, Mir Dost, son of Gul Nawab, Bibi Sherin, wife of Habibullah, Yasmeen, wife of Jehanzeb, (all residents of Serai Nehag Dara), Rasheeda, daughter of Fazalur Rehman, Saeedullah, son of Bargay, Ismail, son of Arsala Khan, Khanzada, son of Hussain, (resident of Ramil Nehag Dara), Dr Mujeeb, son of Nawaz, (a resident of Katlang, Mardan) and Gul Khan, son of Musafar, a resident of Charsadda, Sher Mohammad while names of two of the victims could not be ascertained.

The police have registered a case against the driver of the vehicle Mohammad Sadeeq, still unconscious till the filing of this report and his condition was stated to be in a serious condition.
