RAWALPINDI: Six Special Branch officials, who enjoyed an extended posting at the Islamabad airport, were transferred on the directive of the additional inspector general of the Punjab police.

According to official sources, the decision was taken after another Special Branch officials posted at the airport for over 10 years was booked by the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE).

Out of the five Special Branch officials at the airport, four were transferred to the police lines while their in-charge was sent to Chakwal.

According to the ACE, Sub-Inspector Yasin Khan was booked on Wednesday after one of his former subordinates, ASI Mohammad Shahzad Zafar, lodged a complaint accusing him of owning an ambulance service at the Islamabad airport and minting foreign currency from expatriates arriving at the airport.

He also accused him of operating a religious seminary and getting donations from abroad.

The complainant alleged that the sub-inspector, who had been posing himself as a deputy director Special Branch, had also made several tours to foreign countries. An inquiry was held that led to the registration of a case against Yasin Khan.

In line with the AIG’s directions, a list of the Special Branch officials posted atthe airports across the province was being prepared to check their tenure of postings.
