Women’s football team set for Bahrain tour

KARACHI: Pakistan’s women’s football team will leave for Bahrain on Monday for a three-match friendly series against the hosts in preparation for the SAFF Women’s Football Championship next month.

The matches, to be played on Oct 23, 26 and 29, are aimed at providing the team with vital practice ahead of the South Asian event slated to be held in Lahore.

“Despite financial constraints, we’re focused on providing all facilities to the women’s football team for a good showing in the SAFF Championship,” Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) president Faisal Saleh Hayat said in a news release.

Squad: Hajra Khan (captain), Malika Noor (vice-captain), Mahwish Khan, Diana Baig, Rafia Perveen, Mahnaz Shah, Mussarrat Shaheen, Rukhsar Rasheed, Abiha Haider, Zulfia Shah, Roshnan Ali, Shayanne, Sowieba Sarfraz, Sahar Zaman, Fatima Ansari, Shahlayla Baloch, Sumaira Kousar, Sofia, Mahpara, Azra Farooq.
