HYDERABAD, Sept 3: The Super Highway and the Hyderabad by-pass were blocked by truck drivers on Wednesday morning to protest against the killing of a driver by highwaymen.

The Hatri police said driver Mohammad Hassan, resident of Toba Tek Singh, was signalled to stop by four highwaymen near a petrol pump but he accelerated the speed. The outlaws opened fire on him, as a result of which he died.

The cleaner of the Faisalabad-based oil tanker (RIN-9722) said they were bound for Karachi.

Following the news of murder, drivers parked their vehicles on the by-pass and the highway, demanding arrest of culprits.

The police said drivers ended the blockade on assurance that killers would be arrested soon. The Hatri police have lodged a murder case against Nawaz Khoso, Bodho Khoso, Umer Machi and Ejaz Khaskheli.
