MIANWALI: Najeebullah Khan Niazi, an MPA from PP-49 in Bhakkar, died of a cardiac arrest on Saturday.

The 47-year-old politician was the youngest brother of former MNA Inamullah Khan Niazi and cousin of PTI chairman Imran Khan. He was a nephew of known Muslim Leaguer, the late Amanullah Khan Niazi.

Najeebullah Niazi suffered heart attack in the morning and was taken to hospital, where he breathed his last by afternoon. Family sources said Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif sent his helicopter to carry him to Lahore for treatment but doctors didn’t allow him to travel due to his critical condition.

He has left behind widow and four minor daughters. The funeral prayers will be held at Central Eidgah at 10am on Sunday (today).

The Niazi family scion was elected as an independent candidate during the 2013 elections but he later joined the PML-N. In 2006, he was elected MPA as the PML-N candidate.
