LAHORE: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Wednesday arrested eight Afghan nationals for trying to leave the country on fake documents.

FIA Lahore Director Dr Usman Anwar told reporters that Afghan national Muhammad Naam, along with his seven family members, was to board a Milan-bound flight when the immigration officials found their documents fake.

Dr Anwar said the accused were issued boarding cards and he would write to the authorities concerned to probe the matter.

He said an agent involved in making travel arrangements for the foreigners had also been arrested. He said the FIA also arrested a wanted human smuggler, Abdul Haq, from Kharian.
