KARACHI: For unexplained reasons, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari apologised to his party’s estranged workers on Sunday and appealed to them to reconsider their decision to join other parties.

He said that being a democratic party the PPP welcomed differences of opinion, adding that the best way for workers was to attend party meetings and strive for bringing about changes they wanted and put the country on the road to progress and prosperity.

In an open letter to supporters, Bilawal Bhutto conceded that mistakes had been committed in the past and pledged to correct them to regain workers’ trust.

But he did not spell out what mistakes the party had made which called for an apology or the differences of opinion expressed by some workers.

“To those who have been with the PPP but now feel let down, first of all allow me to apologise personally for letting you down. We do not claim to be perfect; we acknowledge that mistakes have been made in the past and are committed to rectifying them and regaining your trust.

“In the interim period, if you are considering to switch over to another political party, please act discreetly. Do not punish Pakistan or its democracy for my shortcomings. Please do not support undemocratic party or a party appeasing extremists. Pakistan has rightwing parties which support dictatorship and appease the TTP. If you are frustrated with the party, I would suggest to you ways to legitimately practise opposition politics.

“The PPP is a democratic party and welcomes internal dissent. The best way to influence the PPP’s policy is to join us and bring about changes in the party and in the country from within. If party policy is unacceptable to you and you are considering to join another party, I would suggest you to join pro-democracy and pro-people political parties.

“The PPP welcomes and encourages other leftwing parties to join the political process. In fact, if a former sympathiser desires to attend a political event, I would suggest to him to attend the AWP Congress in Islamabad.

“No-one can claim to have once supported Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto or Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto but can now support dictatorship or extremism. I look forward to regaining your trust and also proving that the PPP is the only party that can build a peaceful, prosperous and progressive Pakistan. Jeay Bhutto, Pakistan Zindabad.”

The way he chastised India has probably given Indians a few sleepless nights ! He was passionate about the cause of Kashmiris and said Pakistan will not give an inch of Kashmir away. Jeay Bhutto. Pakistan zindaabad ?? What about Jeay Quaid ? Same as his mother who replaced Quaids picture with Bhuttos in her first address. The Quaid , Pakistans Quaid. When the list of mistakes is too long to enumerate, it is smart to leave it unexplained. Mr. Bilawal... when will you apologize to jobless youth of Sindh, particularly the ones NOT from Karachi? Young people from Karachi do successfully get their hands on well paying private jobs, because of the size of the economy they have access to. But what about people from the rest of the province. The educated young people, with no political connections, from Sindh have firm belief, that they will not get a respectful government jobs, as long as your party is governing the province of Sindh.

What a joke. Zulfiquar Ali Bhutto was himself the political progeny of one military dictator (Ayub Khan) and later strengthened the hands of another (Yahya Khan) in the dismemberment of the country. Don't forget he was also the one who first supported the regressive religious elements in Afghanistan. They later mutated into the Taliban that Bilawal's mommy recognized as a legitimate government. The 'mistakes' are too many to count buddy, so better start making a list.

PPP has caused harm to the country consistently, This party was raised to look after the interest of the poor people, solve their problems, ensure fundamental rights and particularly providing them justice at their door steps. After coming into power they deceived the people, ignored their problems, indulged in massive corruption scandals, each one of them amassed money in and out side the country, justice is no where to be seen. They did not provide local govt system to the people deliberately to complicate the poor's problems and funnel the money in their accounts. Bilawal should have a heart to heart with all disgruntled PPP leaders and workers without the presence of current leaders. He should personally apologize all those who were near and dear to BB and have been cornered. Those lifetime PPP faithfuls would not reject his genuine apologies. I can only feel sorry for you as you were dreaming about your turn after uncle Nawaz's turn but these turns are over now. PPP is nothing but a regional party, rather nationalist party. They can never be able to take back the lost seats and power they enjoyed in Punjab, KP and Balochistan. They can not even claim to have any hold over rural areas. They simply enjoy majority in sindh assembly on the basis of maximum seats sealed by the shahs, pirs and their friends and friends friends. It can be a blessing (and a rough ride for the very young Bilwal), if he is seriously thinking to put it in practice. He has an up-hill struggle against Vaderas in his party and a general submissive mind set-up in our semi-fudal society. Gran Pa (Bhutto) was a rolling stone. They have done nothing in terms of improving education, halthcare and road networks for Pakistan specially Sindh. Even in Larkana conditions are worst ever and people are dying of stomach disorders. PPP and PML-N are not different. Both are rich and family dynesty. They have delivered nothing in the past so many years to the people of Pakistan. Yes, the PPP is a very democratic party. The elections take place within the Bhutto-Zardari household. The manifesto is enriching the Bhutto-Zardari family and their cronies(including the PMLN) while the vast majority of the people in Sindh live in abject poverty.
