Imran snub from trophy celebrations irks Rashid

KARACHI: Former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif has criticised the Pakistan cricket authorities for snubbing former captain Imran Khan while celebrating the arrival of the 2015 World Cup trophy in Pakistan.

“Pakistan won the only World Cup under Imran Khan, this is a fact and nobody can take this credit away from him,” said Rashid while talking to a leading TV channel here on Saturday. “Snubbing Imran from the event for whatever reason is unfortunate and in bad spirit.

“Skipper Misbah and former great Javed Miandad are respectable cricketers and were rightly chosen for the honour but nobody was more deserving than Imran to get invited to the celebrations of the trophy’s arrival in the country,” insisted Rashid.

“It will go down in history as a great discrimination, I am afraid,” Rashid concluded.

This tells you what a low mentality NS and part has. They could've used this occasion to display some magnanimity but ironically its eludes them. It also shows that they consider all national institutions to be their personal property. Had PCB not been under their influence it was out of question that Imran could be left out of such an event.

Corrupt PCB groups can snub him from this fack show but can't change the realty that Imran Khan was the one who brought this cup to Pakistan. Cricket is our heart with Imran Khan. Shame on PCB administration and cricketers who sidelined him. Imran Khan doesn't need this show off but people noticed this hypocrisy.

In Pakistan everything is politicized. If we can involve politics with fatal floods then what do you think Raashid, we will spare cricket? We desperately need to reduce or eliminate politics from a lot of daily life affairs, including sports. It will not only help improve our capacity to deal with such affairs but politics itself too. I was and still am fan of Raashid.

Najm Sethi is running the PCB and he is in PCB because of NS. How could he involve Imran Khan. Let this go its not a big deal moreover Imran is busy elsewhere. Moving forward Latif should concentrate on the world cup. The timing of T-20 matches are bad, it is time to have maximum ODI matches on good pitches under neutral umpires. PCB should make two teams. Those who are WC ODI probable and those who are knocking on the door with good performance on domestic matches. Play 10 matches in Lahore and Karachi under neutral umpires. Check on fitness and form and temperament under crisis mode.
