ISLAMABAD Aug 31: Pakistan Muslim League (Quaid-i-Azam) president and parliamentary leader Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain has said the construction of Kalabagh Dam, Bhasha Dam and other dams have become essential for the progress and prosperity of the country.

He said the construction of the dams was delayed in the past due to opposition from politically motivated elements.

In a press statement issued here on Sunday, Mr Hussain said he would undertake countrywide tour along with other party colleagues to clear the misunderstandings about the dams.

The PML-Q leader said the country suffered a lot due to the delayed dams’ construction and added that projects meant for the development and prosperity should not be exploited for political motives but decisions on such issues should be taken in the national interest.

He stated: “The future of our coming generations depended upon these projects and hence instead of opposing these and hurling threats to blow them up we should join hands for the completion of these projects.”

The PML leader lauded the statement of President Gen Pervez Musharraf’s statement in Jamshoro in which he had said that he would break the neck of those talking about breaking Pakistan.
