QUETTA, Aug 31: Jamiat Ulema Islam (Fazlur Rehman) provincial executive and parliamentary group held a meeting here on Sunday to review the Shariat Bill draft prepared by the Nifaz-i-Shariat Council, which will be presented before the Balochistan Assembly in its upcoming session.

JUI-F provincial chief and MNA Maulana Mohammad Khan Sherani presided over the meeting at the MPA hostel here.

Information Secretary Dilawar Khan Kakar giving details of the meeting said that Nifaz-i-Shariat Council’s chairman Maulana Abdul Bari presented the report of the draft bill.

The meeting also discussed the performance of the coalition government and decided that MMA would make all out efforts to strengthen the government and resolve the problems faced by the people of the province.

MENGAL: Balochistan National Party (BNP-Mengal) President Sardar Akhtar Mengal has said Gwadar is a jugular vein of the province and the going ahead of the port project without taking the people in confidence would have negative impact on the federating unit.

Speaking at a public meeting in Khuzdar he warned the patriotic political forces in the province that if they failed to join hands, the Baloch would lose their identity.

The former chief minister alleged that the rulers were planning a military operation in Balochistan and maintained that such an action was not new as the people of the province had faced similar atrocities in the past while defending the motherland.

Balochistan was rich not only in resources, but also had a long coastal belt due to which Pakistan had importance at international level, he said.
