TIMERGARA/UPPER DIR: Four persons, including an army soldier, were killed and ten others were injured in two road accidents in Lower and Upper Dir districts on Sunday.

A pickup van went out of the driver’s control and plunged into a deep ravine at Khunako area of Timergara, killing two people and injuring four others, hospital sources said.

They said that Fahim, 50, was killed on the spot while a 19-year-old girl identified as Shahi Raz succumbed to injuries at the DHQ hospital Timergara.

The injured included Mohammad Naeem, 50, his wife Shamsul Haram, 40, and two minor children.

They were taken to tehsil headquarters hospital, Talash from where they were referred to the DHQ hospital.

The Talash police registered a case and started investigation.

The accident occurred due to faulty engine, said police.

In Upper Dir, two people, including a soldier, were killed and six others were seriously injured when a pickup fell into a ravine in Barawal area near the Pak-Afghan border.

According to Shahikot police, the non-custom paid pickup (PSB-768) was going to Afghan border from Sabar Kalay when it skidded off the road near Khawar Banda and plunged into the ravine. As a result, Naek Asif of army’s Engineering Unit and driver, Fazal were killed and six others, including four security personnel, were injured.

The injured were identified as Razaq, Noviz, Zulfiqar, Azahr, Jalat and Shafi, residents of Sunai Darra Brawal.
