SAHIWAL: Mian Manzoor Ahmed Watoo, Punjab President of Pakistan Peoples Party, has blamed Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf and Pakistan Awami Tehreek for bringing down constitutional framework of Pakistan through unconstitutional means.

Speaking to newsmen at the residence of Rana Aftab, party’s vice president of Sahiwal district, Wattoo said PTI, PAT and the government should demonstrate restraint and try to solve the issue through a dialogue. He criticized the government for not “properly handling” the aggressive leadership of both the PTI and PAT.

He said the last PPP government had handled all political crises, including the Memogate, very carefully. He said the PML-N had miscalculated all intensions of Imran and Qadri.

He said PPP would not allow anyone to make an unconstitutional move in the present scenario. He advised Imran and Qadri to get out of aggressive posture and drop their unconstitutional demands. He asked the PML-N leadership to remain calm otherwise both Qadri and Imran were there to accomplish the remaining task of “others”.

UNIVERSITY: The government is working on the proposal to develop a university at Sahiwal.

Qazi Abdul Nasir, director Colleges, told Dawn two proposals were under consideration in this regard, adding that either a new independent university would be set up by upgrading the Bahauddin Zakariya University’s sub-campus or the same sub-campus would be merged into the Government Postgraduate College Sahiwal.

He said the university might be established just like the Ghazi University, DG Khan, which was developed by merging four educational institutions into Government Postgraduate College, DG Khan.

Mr Nasir further said the government would spend Rs825.1 million on setting up seven new colleges and improving infrastructure of six existing colleges in Sahiwal division.

BUSTED: Police busted two criminals’ gangs and arrested their seven members, including their leaders, namely Ihsan alias Husana Gang and Yasin Machee Gang.

These criminal gangs were involved in robbery and motorcycle theft incidents in Yousafwala and Kameer police stations area. Those arrested include Waheed, Shabbir, Waseem, Ashfaq and Jabbar.
