HYDERABAD: A policeman was gunned down and another injured on the Autobahn road here on Saturday night.

Sources said the policemen were patrolling the area when unidentified people opened fire on them.

The deceased was identified as Mohammad Ashraf and the injured as Mohammad Ramzan.

Ashraf received a bullet to his chest.

Ramzan was wearing a bullet-proof jacket and received a bullet to his skull. He was taken to the Liaquat University Hospital’s city branch where his condition was said to be critical.

There has been a surge in attacks on policemen in Hyderabad. On Aug 7, a gunman of DIG prisons was shot dead and on July 6 three policemen were killed in an attack in the city’s Latifabad area.
