KARACHI, July 23: Sindh Chief Minister Sardar Ali Mohammad Khan Mahar has approved the proposal to ban the sale of gutka, mainpuri and sweet chalia.

An announcement to this effect was made here on Wednesday. In a summary sent by Sindh Home Secretary to him for seeking his approval, the chief minister termed these spurious materials as detrimental to human health having adverse impact on the consumers.

The statement recalled that Sindh Ombudsman had also recommended a complete ban on these.

After the imposition of ban, the concerned organizations would take action against the manufacturers and sellers of sub-standard gutka, mainpuri and sweet chalia. — APP
