SWABI: Jamaat-i-Islami, an alliance partner in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, has said that if Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf wants to bring change in the government it should adopt the constitutional way and avoid illegal tactics for achieving this objective.

Talking to Dawn after addressing his party workers’ meeting here on Friday, JI provincial chief Prof Mohammad Ibrahim said that his party chief Sirajul Haq had been striving to resolve differences between the protesting parties and the government by supporting negotiations. He said that Mr Haq had been urging the two sides to show flexibility to resolve issues. He said that the PTI, Pakistan Awami Tehreek and ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz should sit across the table and amicably resolve their issues.

Prof Ibrahim said that the ongoing protest sit-ins in the ‘Red Zone’ by the PTI and PAT had a bad impact on Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. “The continued protest and deadlock has more impact on our province than the rest of the country,” he said.

The JI leader said that they wanted to save the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly from dissolution. He said that Chief Minister Pervez Khattak was under tremendous pressure from his party command to dissolve the assembly. “The no-confidence motion against the chief minister is aimed at saving the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly,” he said.

He said that JI would never support any unconstitutional move to remove an elected government. He said that the role of the government and opposition was very important at this critical stage to break the stalemate.

He said that electoral reforms should be brought through consensus, as the politics of confrontation could harm the country.

TWO KILLED: A man killed wife of his brother and nephew in Yar Hussain area here on Friday.

Registering an FIR, Muslim Khan told police that his brother Saleem Khan opened fire on his nephew Nazeed Khan and wife of his brother, Farooq Ali, killing them on the spot.

The cause of the incident was stated to be an old enmity between the two brothers.

Meanwhile, police have arrested two persons in the killing of the only son of a widow. The widow Gul Pari, a resident of Charbagh, had registered an FIR on August 20 that his son, Yasir, was killed by unidentified persons.

The police have arrested two brothers, Sajid Khan, who is brother-in-law of Mr Yasir, and Bakht Taj in the case. The two allegedly wanted to occupy land of Mr Yasir.
