NEW YORK: A giant flag in support of Palestinians in Gaza was unfurled from the Manhattan Bridge on Wednesday afternoon — a second apparent breach of security in a month on an East River span, police said.

Several protests against Israeli attacks on Gaza civilians were held on Wednesday and many passed across to Borough of Brooklyn to participate in protests.

The large banner in the colours of the Palestinian flag was hanging on the south edge of the East River span, reading ‘Boycott,’ ‘Divest,’ ‘Sanction’ with ‘Gaza in our hearts’ in the centre.

A huge protest was organised in support of the Palestinians at Cadman plaza park in Brooklyn where Israel was criticised for bombings and killings of civilians in Gaza.
