Canal breach floods crops

NAWABSHAH, July 22: A 80-foot-wide breach occurred between RD-42 and 43 on the right bank of Gujrawah near Busheri 8km off here on Tuesday.

The villages of Makhan Sehto and Hamzo Sehto were badly affected as their 40 houses were inundated.

Cotton, sugarcane, banana and vegetables crops standing over 700 acres of land were destroyed as 2-foot water was standing on the farmland.

The breach could not be plugged in till the filing of this report.

BODY FOUND: The body of an unidentified person was found near Khadar on Monday.

POLIO WALK: The employees of the district health department staged a walk here on Monday to create awareness about the anti- polio campaign.

Led by Qazi Arif, EDO, health, the walk began from the District Council High School and after passing through Hospital Road and Kutchehry Road, ended at the press club. Speaking on the occasion, the EDO urged the people to ensure that anti-polio drops were administered to their children.—Correspondent
