KARACHI, July 22: A man drowned after falling into a well in Malir. His body was recovered on Monday night.

Police were informed by the area people about the presence of a body in the well. The deceased was identified as Hasan Ali, 30, alias Qurban. The area people recovered the body from the well.

Police said Hasan Ali, a resident of Maski goth in Malir, consumed some intoxicating substance and fell into the well filled with stagnant rain water.

The family of the deceased have expressed suspicions and kept his body at the Edhi cold storage at Shorab goth. Sources said the brothers of the deceased had arrived in the city from Dubai on Monday. The postmortem examination was carried out at the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.

KILLED: A middle-aged woman was killed by unknown persons in her house in Gulistan-i-Jauhar on Monday night.

Police said that a housewife identified as Rasheeda Begum, 45, was found dead with her throat slit by some sharp-edged weapon in her house in Block-12, Gulistan-i-Jauhar.

Police said that at the time of the incident, the victim was alone in the house. Police ruled out the possibility of a robbery attempt as none of the household items and valuables had been touched.

Police are investigating the case and suspected it to be a result of some personal enmity.

DROWNING: An unidentified man drowned in a stormwater drain in Site on Tuesday morning.

Police said that an unidentified man in his mid 50’s was found dead in the stormwater drain near Valika Chowrangi. He appeared to be a drug addict, police added.

The body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for the postmortem examination.

BODY FOUND: Body of Jamil Ahmed, who had drowned in the Lyari river in the limits of Pak Colony on Monday trying to saving two children, was recovered from the river in Sharshah on Tuesday.

The body was shifted to the Civil Hospital and later it was handed over to the relations.
