HYDERABAD: A ‘Coal Research & Resources Centre (CRRC)’ has been established in Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET) Jamshoro to strengthen government’s efforts to address issue of present energy crisis.

A university announcement said here on Monday that the MUET had taken initiative in line with ICC-2013 (First International Coal Conference 2013) which was organised by the varsity last year in November in which the decision for its establishment had been taken.

Its purpose is to provide state of art research facilities to support public and private sector for economic development of the country.

Before the formal announcement, a meeting of the committee was chaired by Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mohammad Aslam Uqaili.

The proposal was approved by the syndicate and Dr Suhail A. Soomro has been appointed as CRRC director.

The VC praised contributions of world’s renowned faculty members in MUET who are involved in the area of coal research for 25 years and they collaborate with experts internationally.
