Published December 20, 2001

ISLAMABAD, Dec 19: Eid prayers were offered in more than 250 Eidgahs, mosques and open spaces in the twin-cities from 7:30am to 9:30am on Monday.

Huge crowds were drawn to the Eid congregations at Liaquat Bagh and GHQ Ground in Rawalpindi and Faisal Masjid in Islamabad.

The local administration had made strict security arrangements at all the places where Eid prayers were offered. All went peacefully in the twin-cities.

Beggars lined up the roads, streets and lanes near mosques in large numbers. Sweets and fruits shops did a roaring business.—Reporter
