ISLAMABAD, Dec 19: Japan has agreed to provide 997 million yen (approximately $8.0 million) to Pakistan through Unicef, for purchasing polio vaccines.

The funding is aimed at helping Pakistan in its campaign against plio and as a token of its support for Pakistani children.

According to a press release, issued here on Wednesday, the signing ceremony for the funding will take place here on Thursday at a local hotel.

Japanese ambassador Mr Numata, and Unicef representative Ms. Carroll Long, senior officials from the health ministry and all key partners in the polio eradication campaign will attend the ceremony.
