RAWALPINDI: Residents of the garrison city on Monday night staged a protest demonstration against unavailability of gas at Chandni Chowk, Murree Road.

More than 80 people from Sadiqabad, Muslim Town, Dhoke Kashmirian, Rehmanabad and their adjoining areas gathered at Chandni Chowk to stage a protest.

They blocked the road for more than two hours and burnt tyres.

The protesters were chanting slogans against the government and demanded immediate restoration of gas in their areas.

Due to the protest, the traffic on the main artery of the city — Murree Road — was blocked for more than three hours.

Long queues of vehicles were witnessed on the adjoining roads including 6th Road, Rawal Road, Asghar Mall Road, Sadiqabad and Double Road.

Some of the protesters said their families were facing immense gas loadshedding since many days.

They said gas was not available in the hot weather and created problems for the people to cook food.
