OKARA: Villagers shot dead an alleged robber during a crossfire here on Eid day at 33/2R.

According to FIR No 834/14, some dacoits tried to snatch valuables from villagers who put up resistance. The robbers fled while resorting to firing.

The villagers started chasing the suspects. During a crossfire, one of the suspects later identified as Tahir of 27/2R village received a bullet and succumbed to his injuries on the spot.

Saddar police have registered a case under sections 302, 395 and 412 of the PPC and 13/20/65 under the Arms Ordinance.

DIE ON ROAD: Two bike riders were killed in an accident on the second day of Eid near Bhuman Shah on Haveli-Depalpur Road.

Arslan Zakir and Imtiaz Ahmad of Sahiwal were on their way to Haveli Lakkha to see their relatives. Near Bhuman Shah, their bike collided with a car. They received critical injuries and died on the spot.
