FAISALABAD: Thekariwala police claim to have killed a proclaimed offender carrying a head money of Rs200,000 in an encounter on Tuesday.

Police said two motorcyclists were signalled to stop at a picket in Mullanpur but they opened fire which was retaliated. In the crossfire, one of the suspects died while the other managed to escape taking an advantage of darkness.

The dead man was later identified as Saleem Masih of Chak 107-JB, Chak Jhumra.

City Police Officer Sohail Habib Tajik claimed Saleem was carrying a head money of Rs200,000 and involved in cases of murder, dacoity and extortion in Chak Jhumra and Kotwali areas. He said a team had been formed to arrest the absconding accused.
