VEHARI, July 19: Visitors to the central library complained of the authorities’ apathy for making no arrangements for provision of drinking water.

A group of readers told Dawn here on Saturday that there has been no drinking water in the library for the last six months.

To add to their miseries, they said, the authorities removed two airconditioners and installed at newly built tehsil council hall.

The Tehsil Municipal Administration manages the library.

Librarian Deen Muhammad said only Rs5,000 would be spent on the repair of water cooler and water pump, but the TMA did not release the fund.

Tehsil municipal officer Inayatullah Fani could not be contacted for official version on the affairs of the library.

APPOINTMENT: About 500 lady health workers and 23 supervisors have been awaiting letters of their appointment for the last six months.

The district health department had interviewed candidates for induction in the national health programme in January, sources said here on Saturday.

Meanwhile, a group of candidates claimed that political interferences had been hindering the process.

Sources confirmed that involvement of MNAs and MPAs belonging to the ruling party had been delaying appointments.
