SHIKARPUR, Dec 19: Two children were killed and ten people were injured when two groups of Jakhranis opened fire on one another in Jagan village on Wednesday.

The Jakhranis, who were sitting in a hotel to settle a dispute, suddenly started firing on one another as a result of which two children who were crossing the road were killed and 10 people including eight Jakhranis were injured.

The two children, M. Idrees (11), son of M. Younus Machhi, and Fauzia (3), daughter of Ghulam Shabbir Channa, died on the spot. Two of those injured were passersby.

The Humayoon police registered a case against 16 Jakhranis.

INJURED SHO DIES: The SHO, Dodapur police, Ghulam Hussain Mari, who was seriously injured in an encounter with Banglani tribesmen some seven days back in the jurisdiction of the Dodapur police station, Jacobabad District, died at a Karachi hospital.

His body was brought to Shikarpur on Wednesday for burial.

It may be recalled that about a week ago Mr Mari, the SHO, Dodapur police station, had conducted a raid at the village of the Banglanis to arrest some absconders. Banglani tribesmen on seeing the police opened fire as a result of which Constable Niaz Khoso was killed on the spot while four other policemen and SHO Mari were injured.
