LAHORE: Calling for observing the last Friday of Ramazan as Al-Quds Day, Jamaat-i-Islami emir Sirajul Haq has written a letter to leaders of Muslim countries as well as movements urging them to play their role on the Palestine issue and adopt a joint strategy for protecting Muslims worldwide.

Meanwhile, party's parliamentary leader in Punjab Assembly Dr Waseem Akhtar submitted a call-attention notice to the assembly secretariat on the recovery of 100 people from a private prison of a landlord in Gujranwala.

The notice sought details of the action against the landlord for imprisoning people and forcing them into bonded labour.

Opposition leader in Punjab Assembly Mian Mahmoodur Rashid submitted a resolution to the assembly secretariat condemning alleged violation of international borders by India that resulted in the killing of a local citizen.

The resolution demanded the federal government "strongly react" to the incident by raising it at the diplomatic level.

Rashid believed a weak response by Islamabad was leading New Delhi to repeated border violations.
