LAHORE: A Lahore High Court full bench on Monday suspended the legal practicing licence of Advocate Pervez I. Mir for misbehaving a female judge and referred the matter to the Pakistan Bar Council for further action.

However, the bench comprising Justice Manzoor Ahmad Malik, Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah and Justice Ayesha A. Malik dropped contempt proceedings as Advocate Mir tendered unconditional apology.

During the last week, Justice Ayesha A. Malik was hearing a petition about illegal possession of the government quarter.

Respondent Muhammad Arif was occupying a government residence A-42 in Wahdat Colony and was served vacation notices repeatedly by a special judicial magistrate of the Punjab Civil Secretariat. Advocate Mir, representing the respondent, asked the court to suspend the impugned notices and maintain the status-quo. During the course of hearing the advocate misbehaved and used contemptuous language. On this, the court issued a contempt notice to him.
