DPO suspends SHO

GUJRAT, July 18: The Civil Lines police station SHO was suspended from service by the DPO on Thursday on the charge of helping Gujranwala police in humiliating a union council Nazim belonging to the PML-Q.

A Gujranwala police team led by Inspector Riaz along with police of civil lines police station had raided the residence of union council 59 Nazim Najeeb Ashraf Cheema and arrested him and his two gunmen Zahid and Nadeem.

They took them to the Chenab bridge where they asked the Nazim to tell the whereabouts of proclaimed offender Abbas otherwise they would be killed. Police also subjected them to torture at the People’s Colony office.

Gujranwala range DIG Malik Iqbal intervened and freed them besides suspending Inspector Riaz.

Later, nine Nazims led by Mr Cheema met DPO Raja Munawar Husain and informed him about the malpractice of Civil Lines police. The DPO suspended Civil Lines SHO Mian Tauseef from service and deputed Inspector Moazzam Ali in his place.
