ISLAMABAD, July 18: The government has decided to absorb the employees currently in the surplus pool into different ministries and divisions and none of them will be sent home or retired against their desire.

Sources in ministry of labour manpower and oversees Pakistanis told this reporter that according to the new policy, no employee in the surplus pool would be sent home or forcibly retired. The employees will be retired only if he/she agrees and all the benefits will be paid to him, they added.

They said currently there was no legal provision of re- adjustment of the employees within two years. Earlier, the surplus pool employees had to be sent home if not absorbed within two years, they added.

They said following the directives of the prime minister, the establishment division had asked the ministries and divisions to absorb all surplus pool employees on vacant posts. The establishment division has also directed them not to make fresh appointments without its approval, they added. The sources said if the ministries could not find employees in the surplus pool according to their requirement, they were bound to get a no objection certificate (NOC) from the surplus pool before recruitment on the vacant posts.

The directive of the establishment division for adjustment of the surplus employee against the vacant post would be implemented without any delay. Such employees will not be asked to appear before a selection committee in this respect, they added.

Currently, there more than 600 employees of various categories in the surplus pool.
