ISLAMABAD: Indian Border Security Forces resorted to unprovoked firing on Pakistan Rangers’ posts in Charwah sector near Sialkot on Wednesday, Pakistan’s military sources said.

The Pakistani forces responded to Indian firing and intermittent exchange of fire along the Working Boundary continued till late evening.

Two Pakistan soldiers were injured, the sources said.

The last such incident was reported on Oct 25, 2013. On that occasion, Pakistan had accused Indians of violating the Line of Control in the same sector.

AFP adds: Indian police accused the Pakistani army of killing a soldier and injuring seven other people during firing

Police said the “unprovoked” firing lasted for several hours at an Indian post at R.S. Pura sector.

Police inspector general Rajesh Kumar said: “One BSF soldier died and four others were injured in the firing,” Kumar said. “It was an unprovoked violation of the ceasefire,” Kumar said.
