LAHORE: Civil society has termed `illegal and unlawful' the public hearing pertaining to proposed further widening of the Canal Road project, being arranged jointly by the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) at Alhamra Cultural Complex on Ferozpur Road on Wednesday.

"The public hearing is not only mala fide but against the mandate of the Lahore Canal Heritage Park Act, 2013, as well as the order of the Supreme Court in its suo motu case No 25 of 2009," Lahore Bachao Tehreek Convener Imrana Tiwana told Dawn on Tuesday.
