Lawmakers visit European Parliament

ISLAMABAD: A delegation of Pakistan’s Senate Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs met Michael Gahler, member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, during a visit to the European Parliament on Thursday.

They discussed security issues and Pakistan’s relations with the European Union (EU).

The Pakistani lawmakers are currently on a visit to Brussels under the leadership of Senator Haji Muhammad Adeel, said a statement issued on Thursday.

The legislators called on Chairman of the European People’s Party, Manfred Weber, and discussed with him European elections 2014 and European security structure.

The delegation also met Sajjad Karim, a Pakistani-origin Briton who has been elected as member of the European Parliament.

Later, the delegation went to the office of European External Action Service and discussed with Joelle Jenny, director for Security Policy and Conflict Prevention, the situation of security and conflicts in South Asia.

Other members of the delegation are Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed, Senator Malik Mohammad Rafiq Rajwana, Senator Muzaffar Hussain Shah, Senator Dr Mohammad Jehangir Bader and Amjad Ali, director staff of the Foreign Affairs Committee.
