Accident in Nowshera claims six lives

NOWSHERA: An accident between a Qingqi rickshaw and a dumper truck killed six persons and wounded two others in Khandar area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Nowshera district late on Thursday.

The accident occured when a Qingqi rickshaw, carrying eight persons from Risalpur, collided with a dumper truck, according to police sources.

Six persons died on the spot whereas the wounded were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The condition of one wounded was reported as critical, according to hospital sources.

All the passengers travelling in the rickshaw belonged to the same family.

The truck involved in the fatal mishap was impunded by police while a search for the driver went underway.

Fatal traffic accidents, blamed on poor roads, badly maintained vehicles and reckless driving, are frequent in Pakistan and claim many lives annually.
