LAHORE: The exp­orts and domestic sales of cement increased in June 2014 compared to the corresponding month last year.

According to All Pakistan Cement Manu­­­­­­facturers Association (APCMA) data, the despatches to domestic markets increased by 14.32 per cent to 2.532 million tonnes against 2.215m tonnes during same month last year.

Similarly, exports in June 2014 increased by 2.9pc to 685,000 tonnes against 665,000 tonnes of June 2013.

The total despatches during June 2014 were 3.217m tonnes against 2.88m tonnes last year, showing an increase of 11.68pc.

During the fiscal year 2013-14, the industry despatched 26.14m tonnes in local markets as compared with 25.06m tonnes in 2012-13, posting a growth of 4.32pc.

However, exports showed a decline of 2.87pc, reaching 8.133m tonnes in 2013-14 compared with 8.37m tonnes in fiscal year 2012-13.

The overall situation showed a growth of 2.52pc compared to fiscal year 2012-13 with total despatches increa­sed to 34.273m tonnes against 33.432m tonnes.
