SHEIKHUPURA, July 15: Khanqah Dogran police claimed on Tuesday to have arrested a proclaimed offender carrying Rs200,000 bounty on his head.

Police also claimed that he was involved in at least 100 cases of murder, attempt of murder, robbery and other heinous crimes and was wanted by law-enforcers in Sheikhupura, Hafizabad, Gujranwala, Narowal, Gujrat, Sialkot, Faisalabad and Kasur.

Saddar police station ASP Waqar Ahmad Khan told newsmen that a team, headed by SHO Riaz Abbas, raided a hideout and arrested ring-leader Mushtaq alias Shaki with sophisticated weapons. Two of his accomplices fled.

The police claimed that Mushtaq’s gang had shot dead 12 members of a family and plundered cash and valuables on March 10, 1998.

Three gang members, including Mahmood and Shahid, were shot dead in an encounter with police. Another gangster, Aslam alias Aslama, was in the district jail, the ASP added. — Correspondent
