PESHAWAR: Vice-Chancellor of Islamia College University (ICU), Peshawar, Dr Qibla Ayaz has said that keeping in view the population-related issues the ICU will establish a ‘Centre for Population Studies’ with a focus on maternal and child health issues. He was addressing a seminar on population welfare, jointly organised by the university and the population welfare department at the ICU here on Wednesday.

Parliamentary secretary for population welfare Dr Nadia Sher Khan, principal of population training institute Noor Nawaz Khan, deputy principal Dr Sadia, senior instructor Dr Rukhsana, Dr Badshah Rehman, Prof Sareer Badshah and students attended the seminar. Dr Ayaz appreciated the efforts of the population welfare department for raising awareness among the educated youth and masses of the population-related issues.

Dr Nadia said that the population welfare department intended to sign MoUs with the ICU and other higher education institutions so that the educated youth could play role in creating awareness of population-related issues. On this occasion, ICU registrar Prof Sareer Badshah spoke about various aspects of population.
