KARACHI: At least three convicts staged a prison break from Karachi's Malir jail on Tuesday following which one of the fugitives was re-arrested while the other two managed to make their escape, DawnNews reported.

The two felons who managed to escape were convicted in robbery cases that occurred in Karachi's Shah Latif Town, according to police sources, who added that the third fugitive was re-arrested after a brief encounter.

Further details regarding the incident were not available while authorities launched a probe into the incident.

Security was tightened across the country especially at sensitive government and security installations since the initiation of the Army's full-scale Zarb-i-Azb operation in North Waziristan tribal region.
