KARACHI, July 14: The Virtual University on Monday announced the plan to start admissions for fall 2003 semester, for the bachelor of science degree programme in multiple disciplines.

An announcement said that this was for the first time in Pakistan that a public sector university is offering a four-year BS degree programme in multiple disciplines.

The programme has been initiated with the objective of harnessing the potential of the students of the country, by providing them a broad based education, with options to study at home or at 150 Virtual Campuses set up all over the country, under the guidance of some of country’s most qualified professors.

It was stated that the programme was being offered by a federally chartered university and was funded by the government of Pakistan.

The announcement said that the disciplines offered in the BS degree in liberal arts programme included the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Public Administration, Accounting and Finance, Commerce, Economics, Education, Law, Mass Communication, Political Science, Sociology and Statistics.

It stated that the applicants who already held a two-year recognized bachelor’s degree from any university would be able to avail themselves of certain exemptions with regard to their courses. These students would be classified as ‘fast-track’ students and exemptions would be granted on case to case basis.

Orientation session, for students, will be held from Sep 18 to 20, whereas the classes will commence from Sep 22.—APP
