ISLAMABAD: A petition filed in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday seeks action against ARY News for allegedly airing malicious content targeting members of the superior judiciary.

The petition, filed by the District Bar Association (DBA) of Islamabad, is expected to be taken up by Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui on Friday.

The petitioner names ARY News, through chief executive Salman Iqbal and anchorperson Mubasher Lucman; the Pakistan Electronic Media Regula-tory Authority (Pemra) and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting as respondents.

The petition maintains that the respondents have been trying to undermine the independence of the judiciary and that certain elements have recently started targeting the Supreme Court of Pakistan and Justice Jawwad S Khawaja in particular, without any lawful justification.
