QUETTA, July 12: Over 700,000 acres would be irrigated in Balochistan with the completion of the Kachhi Canal project at a cost of Rs32 billion, Governor Abdul Quadir said during a briefing at the site of the project on Saturday.

“Thousands would get jobs and the province would be able to use its water share from the Indus, which would bring a green revolution,” he said.

A Water and Power Development Authority official briefed the governor about the project and said so far Rs300 million had been spent on it while the federal government had provided Rs1 billion for it in the current financial.
