FIRUZABAD, July 12: The bodies of Iranian conjoined twins Ladan and Laleh Bijani, who died after unprecedented surgery to separate them earlier this week, were laid to rest on Saturday in their home town of Firuzabad in southern Fars province.
Thousands of residents, including their parents Dadollah and Mayam Bijani, gathered at the cemetery to pay their final respects to the 29-year-olds, who died on Tuesday in Singapore in a 50-hour operation.
As a mark of respect, local residents decided to rename Firuzabad, which from now on will be known as Laleh and Ladan Town.—dpa
