Lawyers’ protest day today

Published July 10, 2003

ISLAMABAD, July 9: The lawyers community all over the country will observe Thursday as a protest day to condemn the Supreme Court decision of sealing the SC Bar Association’s offices.

The lawyers will also observe a strike on the same day from 10:30am onwards to condemn the Quetta killings and failure of the law enforcement agencies to avert the tragedy.

The Supreme Court administration had locked SCBA’s offices on June 9 when it wanted to hold a lawyers convention to protest against the extension in the retirement age of the judges of superior courts.

The protest call has been given by the action committee of the representative bodies of lawyers comprising Bar leaders.
