Rain leaves five children dead

NAWABSHAH, July 9: Five children, including a girl, died in rain-related incidents in Nawabshah district on Tuesday.

A boy, Mohammad Zubair, 9, died and his mother was injured when the wall of their house collapsed on them during the rains in Golimar.

Another boy, Nasir Qureshi, 6, was electrocuted in Ashraf Colony.

Two boys, Kashif, 9, and Rashid 7, fell sick after drinking dirty water while playing in the rain in the streets. One died on the way to hospital, while the other died on reaching the hospital.

The girl, Saima, 6, died when the wall of her house fell on her in Sardar Colony.

PROTEST: Dozens of Makrani clansmen held a protest demonstration opposite the press club on Wednesday against the investigation police for failing to arrest the killers of Saleh Makrani.

The protesters carrying placards chanted slogans against the police.
