MUZAFFARABAD: At least eight people were killed and 15 others were wounded when a passenger van fell into a ravine on Pir Chinasi road in Muzaffarabad area on Thursday, DawnNews reported.

Witnesses said the driver of the vehicle lost control on a turn as a result of which the van skidded off the road and plunged into a ravine.

Rescue and emergency teams reached the site of accident and began shifting the casualties to hospitals for treatment.

At least two persons died on the spot whereas six others died while being shifted to a nearby hospital.

Sources said that the condition of two to three wounded was critical.

Road accidents are common in Pakistan, which are often fatal, and are frequently blamed on reckless driving, bad roads and poorly maintained vehicles.
