SHIKARPUR, July 9: Two breaches developed in the Mir Wah, Garhi Yasin Taluka, on Tuesday night as a result of which many houses situated in the Ishaque Dero village were flooded. Besides, six fish farms and paddy crops standing over 300 acres were inundated.

One breach was 100-feet wide, while the other was 50-feet wide.

The residents of the Ishaque Dero village and its adjoining areas succeeded in plugging the breaches on a self-help basis.

DEMO: The villagers held a protest demonstration at Madeji and the Ishaque Dero village on Wednesday against the irrigation officials who failed to take measures to have the breaches plugged.

PROTEST: The activists of Pakistan People’s Party took out a procession and observed a token hunger strike in Garhi Yasin town on Wednesday against the police failure to recover the missing PPP man.

They demanded the recovery of Memon Dhani Bux Amroti, president of PPP, Garhi Yasin taluka.
